Zebra Dots

ZEBRA DOTS - the band that first started receiving a form, when Croatian producer known as Koolade and a drummer from Slovenia, Ivo Rimc met on a recording session via friend - USA Raper Spinz. They both worked with him in the past and present. Koolade needed some live drum beats on his tracks and heard Ivo is the man for the job when he saw the clip on youtube. He was amazed by Ivo's sound and drumming in the Spinz's band "Dank". After the first recording session, Koolade began visiting Ljubljana on a regular basis to record some more. Subsequently, the idea of recording this sample material on the initiative of Ivo, young and talented bass player Jernej Kržič (bass) and an outstanding jazz pianist Erik Marenče (pianist) were invited to join these sessions.

After a few successful recording sessions, they jointly decided to take this project more seriously and make a band out of it. They just had a lot of fun playing togehter, and new ideas started to pomping whenever they jammed. When working on the ideas fresh, new music started to come out. They felt they needed an upgrade with a female vocal and guitar. They jammed and tried out few guitarists and singers from SLO and CRO, but among all of them a unique and talented guitarist Andraz Mazi and a singer with a beautiful voice and powerful energy miss Sasa Alexandra Danilov, were the only real choice for this band. In may 2011 a band with a working tittle "London" was born. Later on they changed their name into ZEBRA DOTS - because they realized the name London could bring the unnecessary problems.

Band is currently in the studio finishing their debut album. Songs are filled with positive energy, smashing grooves, deep chord progressions and extremely soulful lyrics. The sound of the band is a crossover between funk, pop, r&b and dance grooves. It can be tagged as SubPop.

Why is the sound of this band interesting, different, cool? Mainly because of two lead vocalists, and their combination of live and electro vocals (talk box vocoder) and a hard grooving band beneath them playing live. Members classified the sound of ZEBRA DOTS as Electroacoustic SubPop with a lot of positive & danceable energy!
