Snapped Ankles

Outsiders by choice and with a cult following as organically grown as their primordial forest habitat, Snapped Ankles are on their way to deliver their rhythmic krautrock performance art heavy live debut in Croatia. The East London quartet keep their identities a mystery, but their music and shamanic performance speak volumes by holding up a mirror to modern society, criticising progress at any cost, and reverbing in a Teutonic forest rhythm impossible to ignore. Active in the London DIY club scene since 2011, Snapped Ankles released their debut studio album ‘Come Play the Trees’ in Sept 2017 for The Leaf Label to critical acclaim and comparisons to ‘a forested Fall’ thanks to their hyperactive and engaged post-punk sound. Following an EP of covers versions of songs by Can, The Fugs, etc. in 2018, their follow-up studio album ‘Stunning Luxury’ was released in early 2019, once more to critical acclaim and described as ‘a Gang of Four style takedown of modern capitalism’ with a healthy dose of political activism and humour alike. In July 2021 the band’s third studio release ‘Forest Of Your Problems’ dropped as Rough Trade’s album of the month and harnessed even more critical acclaim and audience attention than usual delivering a possessed and manic soundtrack to an impending ecological apocalypse with influences from Joy Division, Gang Of Four, Goat, etc. Simultaneously chaotic and purposefully focused, Snapped Ankles deliver their wide encompassing spectre of subjects and ideas in a memorable performance art heavy live show filled with krautrock influences and primal beats.
