Eccentric neo-folk band Mitsune joins INmusic festival #17 lineup!

Mitsune, the acclaimed Japanese five-piece based in Berlin, is the latest addition to the already impressive lineup of INmusic festival #17!

Mitsune is a Japanese five-member band based in Berlin, whose members come from Japan, Germany, Australia and Greece. The band is led by two female players of the Tsugaru shamisen – a four-century-old three-stringed instrument that was once a favourite among blind players and wandering musicians of ancient Japan. Accompanied by percussion and double bass, Mitsune is a music-visual sensation of unprecedented energy that combines Japanese folk songs, psychedelia, jazz, decadent costumes and evocative storytelling. Since their inception in 2018, Mitsune have performed across Europe, sharing the stage with acts such as Hiatus Kaiyota, surprising audiences at festivals of all genres, from techno to folk. Their second album, ‘Hazama’ (2022), was presented and praised in Rolling Stone and Songlines magazines and entered the Top 10 of the Transglobal World Music Chart.

Mitsune will perform as part of the European Talent Exchange Program (ETE), which helps European artists showcase their music at festivals across Europe and beyond, with INmusic Festival as a long-time partner. The band joins the already impressive lineup of INmusic festival #17 that will take place at Zagreb's lake Jarun from June 23rd to June 25th, 2025. Mitsune will share the festival stages with previously announced music giants Kings of Leon, Massive Attack, Air, Fontaines D.C., Foster the People, Michael Kiwanuka, St. Vincent, Kim Deal, The Streets, Yard Act, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, The Murder Capital, Press Club, Sailor Honeymoon, The Pill, MAQUINA., and many others!
