Viagra Boys
Viagra Boys were formed after a lively night out at a karaoke bar in Stockholm in 2015. The name was chosen as a crude joke on modern masculinity, with songs serving up escapist narratives lacking any form of self-preservation; like an obscure back alley door into the backwaters of the human psyche. The band line-up currently features American lead singer Sebastian Murphy alongside Swedish musicians Linus Hillborg (guitar), Elias Jungqvist (keyboards), Henrik Höckert (bass), Tor Sjödén (drums), and Oscar Carls (saxophone).
Their musical journey commenced with the release of their debut EP ‘Consistency of Energy’ in 2016, followed by their inaugural full-length album ‘Street Worms’ in 2018. which was praised for its fusion of punk and funk elements. 'Welfare Jazz', their second album, was released in 2021, earning accolades as one of the year's standout albums. Their third album, 'Cave World', released in July 2022, fetched them the prestigious Rock of the Year award at the Swedish 2023 Grammis.
