Bombay Bicycle Club
Bombay Bicycle Club is a British band formed in North London, United Kingdom in 2006. Jack Steadman, Jamie MacColl, Suren de Saram, and Ed Nash have been writing songs and playing together since their mid-teens and their big break was winning a battle of the bands that landed them a slot at the 2006 V festival. In 2009 they released a debut studio album ‘I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose’. Over the years, they experimented with different genres, including folk, electronica, world music and indie rock. Their fourth studio album ‘So Long, See You Tomorrow’ from 2014 was nominated for the Mercury Prize and peaked at number one on the UK Albums Chart. After the touring cycle, the four members decided that it was the right time to step away from the band and pursue solo projects. After years-long hiatus, Bombay Bicycle Club reintroduced themselves in 2019 and started to work on new music together. Their newest studio album ‘My Big Day’ was released in October 2023 to critical acclaim: ‘...when you listen to ‘My Big Day’, we hope you hear the sound of four best friends finding joy in making music together and experimenting.’ The band still remains one of the most inventive, insistent and, arguably, influential British guitar bands of the past generation and says much to their powers of reinvention.
